Week 10 Lab

Image
("Writing;" Web Source: Pixabay)   Personally, I like very blunt writing. Thus, when watching how to write descriptively, it shows that I need to be looking at more senses. I am not descriptively discussing people's emotions. I need to find a healthy balance between blunt writing but also providing enough descriptions that people want. I have noticed this in much of the feedback I receive from students in the course. I think this is because of the word count. I try to be very blunt, and I know that many students do not want to read a long story. I don't like descriptive writing because it is so long and to me doesn't show the plot. I like learning about the plot rather than how did the hot guy in the movie look? I prefer to make the senses up by myself, to imagine them for myself rather than have someone tell me. Something is scary? The author may use a description that I may not find is scary at all. I would rather think of an example myself. How do I do blunt

Week 10 Reading Notes Native American Tales, Reading A

("Buffalo," Web Source:  Wikimedia )  The story I found very fascinating was The Piqued Buffalo Wife. In this story, a human man somehow has sex with a female buffalo. I have no idea how that happens. The buffalo gets pregnant from human sperm. The child grows up and wants to look for his father. He looks literally everywhere. Finally, he finds his father. His father is happy to see his child and wants to see the mother. I wonder why he did not want to be with the mother beforehand. The child insists that the female buffalo will hook him four times and that will be okay. He just needs to be straight. He does as his child insists. The female buffalo turns into a human. She tells him that he cannot throw fire on her. One day he is upset and does so. His wife and child turn into buffalo and calf. Later on, he is very sad. He misses them and feels bad. He looks everywhere for them. He sees the buffalo tribe. The buffalo tribe ask him to identify his child. If so, then he can have

Week 9 Story: Shake Shake, Shake Shake, Shake It

Image
("Protein Shake;" Web Source: Wikimedia)  There he was. My best friend, Troy. He was everything I had ever wished for. He was handsome with his dark eyes and dark hair. He was well educated. He even was royalty, a prince. I loved him, and he loved me but not in the same way. I will always remember the day when Tina came into my life. She had lips plumper than a juicy grape. She had legs longer than the neck of a giraffe. Green eyes that you keep looking at like it's a refrigerator. She was what every girl could ever want to be. She was what every guy wanted including my Troy.  I was upset when Troy and Tina started going out. He spent a lot less time hanging out with me. The third month that they started going out things went south according to rumors. Being the crazy person who is in love with Troy, I had to figure out if they were true.  According to the rumors, Tina was doing black magic and trying other intentional ways to get pregnant with Troy's baby. She t

(Tokyo; Web Source: Flickr)  I read the Story of Princess Hase. A price was married to a princess since the time they were super young. They were happy though. One area that was causing them sadness however was the fact that they had no children over the years. They really wished they had a kid. They wanted to care for the child and grow old with the child. They made a pilgrimage in order to try to get a kid. In their religion, if they go to this pilgrimage, they will have a child. They went to it, and it worked. They had a child, a daughter. The mother of the daughter died when the girl was only 5 years old. The mother told her daughter to be good. She gave her a  messages that it is okay if her father remarries. The prince married again. This time, the woman was awful. The daughter was good to her like her mom said. The emperor wanted the daughter and now her step mom to play a song, and the step mom could not. Thus, she was jealous the daughter was able to. She had a son, but

Reading Notes: Ozaki, Reading A

(Japan Map; Web Source: Wikimedia) The story that I read is from Japan. It is called The Man Who Did Not Wish to Die in Ozaki.  Once upon a time there was a man called Sentaro. His name was millionaire. He was not poor. He had some money overall which he did not make. He was by no means a millionaire though. He received this money from his father. He had a fear that many people have which is death. He had heard of a tale. In this tale, there was a man who had everything in life money-wise. He did not want to die like Sentaro. Thus, he tried not to die and wanted to reach this water that could grant the man eternal life. However, the man that he sent to get the water did not return. Sentaro is convinced that there is this eternal life, so he tries to find it. However, he must be a hermit in order to find the hermits who know where that is. This is very difficult for Sentaro. Although he was not a millionaire, he had money. He was used to the nice things in life, so this was a difficu

Week 8 Progress

Image
("Work Harder"; Web Source:  Pixabay )       I am not so happy with my progress. I wish I could have been doing my assignments more in advance. Instead, my routine is a mess. I do assignments when I have time. I need to plan my schedule better. I am most proud that I have not skipped an assignment. I wish I did more extra credit, but there are so many assignments in other courses that I don't feel that I have time. I enjoy writing the stories the most. Also, I try to do the stories on my Wednesdays which are my most free days besides for my 8 hours of work. I can sit down and enjoy it. I have used like two extra credit options, but I wish I could use more. Things have gone well with my blog and website I believe.      A change I need to make is not relevant to this class but to study after each course. I need to have a schedule and exercise more. I am not taking care of myself due to stress and being overworked. I like my writing style, but I need to make sure that I am

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

Image
( Cheezburger )     I chose this image because sometimes I find my story amazing, but then when I get feedback, it can be eye-opening. I see my stories in a different way. I am more critical.        The quality of comments is decent. Some are better than others. When some people say that something is cool or interesting that is less useful. I think an easy fix is to say why when writing. I am sure many of these were written quickly though.  For the most part, on a good day I think I am leaving decent feedback and comments. I am awkward on intro posts because I do get into the same habit of that is cool or that is interesting, but that doesn't do anything. I do get some good ideas when hearing others. For instance, I liked how one person brought their story into the modern time. I really liked that. I am getting to know some people when connecting with them. A lot of students intro post is not very personal for instance saying I am a psychology major or this is my desired

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
This image is still my favorite image. It reminds me of my trip to Pakistan in 2010. I planned to go back to visit my family members this summer, but that unfortunately got cancelled due to COVID-19. I remember the bright colors and the sandy beach where I rode a camel.  (Pakistan Transportation, Web Source:  Wikimedia )     I am overall happy with my blog. Sometimes I go from writing serious and then I shift into trying to be humorous. I wish I kept to one. I think my biggest accomplishment is that I am learning to not be embarrassed about others reading my works. I am still a little sensitive especially when someone who knows me comments on my pieces, but otherwise, I am not too worried. My favorite reading is one I don't really remember. I like the stories that are more modernized. My reading notes are not helping me much because I feel that I prefer just writing the story. I usually do not like to think about what the plot was about and what I am planning on doing. I like to ju

Week 7 Story: Young Lyfe

Image
("Triplets;"  Web Source:  Flickr )  Bibliography:   The Three Brothers  in Stories from Congo by Richard Edward Dennett.  Hi, I am Timmy. It all started when I was 16 years old. I began dating a beautiful and sweet girl, and her name was Maggie. We went to high school together, and it was fun until one day that it wasn't. We were dating for 6 months and were getting out of that honeymoon stage when she said that she wants me to marry her right now. We were 16, and I couldn't give her that. It didn't end there. She was very emotionally draining, so I broke off our relationship.  A couple years later, I was in college, and there was Maggie. Rather than the usual "hello"'s or "it's been so long,"'s Maggie told me she had to tell me something.  "I'm sorry if I was crazy in high school about getting married. I had your baby when we were in high school. They were triplets actually , but don't worry I don't have them anym

Reading Notes: Stories from Congo, Reading B

("Triplets;"  Web Source:  Flickr )  Bibliography:   The Three Brothers  in Stories from Congo by Richard Edward Dennett.  A women had triplets. However, she did not want her kids unfortunately. Thus, she just left them. The kids started to look for food, and all of a sudden there was a lot of food. A spirit told them to eat the food. The kids grew up from eating this food. They had jobs. They had wives, and then had families. The father of the children stumbled around this area one day. He told his wife that these were their kids. The wife tried to find her children, now grown. However, she was not able to. One of the grandchildren saw the lady and were kinda scared. Stranger danger. The triplets were like ok we should kill the intruder. It makes sense. However, the spirit told them not to. They told them to treat her well, so they did. I would want to rewrite this story with not humans. I think it would be interesting if the spirit was actually an animal like a bear. The be

"Green Eyes;" Web Source:  Wikimedia )  I read Stories from the Congo. The story that had the most drama was The Jealous Wife. It depicted a story about a man with two wives. He went out and told the wives to stay with their children. The women wanted to be all sweet and give the husband some yummy food when he got home. However, they needed to watch the kids. One wife would stay at home while the other would fish. One wife was really jealous of the other wife's kid. When it was her turn babysitting, she decided she wanted to kill the other wife's baby. Thus, she killed the baby where they usually are. When she woke up, she realized she killed her own baby and not hers. Yikes. I really am interested in this story. I would use the components of jealousy and her own demise as a part of my own story. I would use a more modern approach. I may use something like a test and the other was jealous of a score on a test or just physical beauty. I would want it to be more of a
